Take Pride in Your Personal Fashion BREXIT
This week’s groundbreaking news of the United Kingdom voting to exit the European Union and the worldwide ramifications gave me pause to reflect. With every news article about the wide reaching effects of this vote, it hit closer and closer to home.
This bold referendum also translated in my mind how we can all make our own personal BREXIT (OK not as far reaching as the real BREXIT) let’s start with fashion.
Your fashion, your choices
As Meryl Streep’s character so poignantly said in The Devil Wears Prada, “But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue…it's actually cerulean, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers.” Break free, and let designers influence you, but stand firm in your quest to choose our own fashion path, and follow the trends you find appealing.
Don’t believe every salesperson that tells you that something looks marvelous on you! If you are unsure, enlist the help of a style-savvy friend to help you navigate these uncharted waters, or perhaps a stylist who might actually push your boundaries.

When you are exploring in the world of fashion, try not to immediately rule out too many selections. You may not like everything about a certain piece of clothing, but you may discover one or two aspects of a piece that you had not originally considered.
Let your mind run free!
Colors can be tricky, if you let them. For example, perhaps yellow washes you out, and for that reason you have no yellow in your wardrobe. But what about a pop of yellow in a pattern you would otherwise find appealing?
Small amounts of the forbidden color will not wash you out, and it will expand the perceived breadth of your wardrobe palette.
So today, I challenge you to take pride and make your own fashion BREXIT, and resolve to blaze your personal style, whether it be fitting in, standing out, or somewhere in the middle!
